Hey Everyone! Persia Red blogging once more! It has definitely been a while since I have blogged! So much has gone on in my jewelry world n other dimensions of my life that I was dragged away! BUT now I'm back and I have some Jewelry did you knows as far as gems and wires are concerned! I encourage both men and women to read this because it may definitely influence your next order from me or any other jeweler.
Wires!
Did you know that most craft wires and plated wires have a core metal of brass or copper? A lot of ppl are jaded to plated gold or silver because of its tarnishing effects and they are allergic!! Well come to find out many ppl actually wear copper jewelry and DO NOT have allergies to them. So what I found is that plated jewelry and craft wire made of brass causes the allergic reactions! (meaning you are allergic to brass). All of my plated and craft wire use copper as a core metal which means....Yup! You got it. No allergic reaction unless you are allergic to copper! As far tarnishing goes, all of my wire are non tarnish so they wont but you must realize because of the oil and acids in our skin, it causes both brass and copper to change color if it does not say non tarnish! Wow!
But you can definitely request that I use certain wires over others! As i said i have craft wire, which comes in an array of colors that i use to wrap frames or accent pieces, plated wire (gold and silver), filled wire ( gold and silver wire but contains more gold and silver than the core copper wire), Argentium Silver wire (which is as precious as sterling silver but has a shinier gloss than sterling silver). I can also get vermeil, stainless steel, gold and sterling silver wire also!
Gemstones and Their Meanings!
So most ppl are not familiar with ALL the gemstones that are out here! I will give names, colors and meaning or what they are good for to only a couple. You should really do some research on gemstones as they add a rare, exotic look to any piece!
Agate: This stone comes in many colors and usually contains bands! It is used for healing and protection.
Amber: Technically not a gemstone but a mineral. It is usually golden honey yellow in color. Can be other colors such as milky white, red-orange, green, black even violet but those colors are rare. It is said to promote love, healing, protection, power and luck!
Emerald: Generally a dark to light green stone. Said to help give the wearer reason,wisdom and can help bring fertilizing rain, some think it also bring tranquility to the troubled mind. Also this stone promotes love, prosperity and healing
Tigers Eye: Come in various shades of brown and yellow brown. Most commonly used for protection against evil or negativity (negative energy) Can also promote healing and luck. Used on the mind not so much the body said to help the wearer focus and think clearly and give them insight.
Carnelian: has a very beautiful red-orange color. In the past was worn only by nobles. Said to help keep away poverty, calm the mind, ward of negative energy and give good luck.
Labradorite: Comes in a greenish gray color with iridescent flashes of blue inside the stone. Said to be a power stone allowing you to see your dreams and goals clearly. Stimulates imagination and helps with meditation.
Hematite: Dk gray in color with a rich luster. Is said to help promote blood circulation, improve relationships and promote aspirations of your goals. Also known as a "blood stone"
Onyx: Black is the most common color but can be seen n other marbled colors. Said to fortify self confidence and responsibility, sharpen the senses, and protect from negative energy as well as release emotions such as sorrow and grief.
Lapis: Known for it's royal blue color with flecks of gold pyrite. Said to be one of the most powerful power stones. Used by Egyptians and Greeks, helps tell of love and promotes truth and power.
Amethyst: A type of quartz known for its different shades of purple, mauve and lilac. Promotes healing and protection. Said to help with headaches, insomnia or fearful feelings!
Citrine: Usually the color of a translucent yellow to a golden brown. Citrine is part of the quartz family and thought of to be the "stone of the mind." It is said to promote luck, health and protection.
Well those are just a couple of gemstones out! I didn't mention too many popular ones because I wanted you guys to really see the diversity!
